Merry Christmas 2020 - Joy

Each year I create a Christmas card with an original illustration and poem. For many years I used the titles of Christmas carols as inspiration, but I eventually ran out of carols. So then I started going for themes, phrases, and words related to Christmas. This year's word is JOY. Enjoy!

2021 Calendar - Wandering Koala on a Turkey Hunt

It took my quite a while to come up with an idea for November, but after a few false starts and an entire trashed illustration, I finally came up with something I really like. It's one of my favorites.

2021 Calendar - Wandering Koala Mourns

Another image for my upcoming calendar. This one went thru a lot of versions in the sketching stage before it turned into this. I like the feeling and attitude of the Wandering Koala.

2021 Calendar - Climbing Liberty

There are a lot of things I like about this image. It definitely stands out as different from my usual fair. I think this will make a great July picture.

Christopher Columbus and His Contribution to Modern Prosperity

Columbus means discovery. Europe discovered the Americas, and the people of the Americas discovered the Europeans, and both groups are better off for it overall. Truly this man deserves to be honored.

2021 Calendar - Skeleton Dances with a Witch

I wanted some of the images in my new calendar to match the season or holidays in certain months. So what to do for October and Halloween? What would be fresh and original yet still capture the classic feel of the season? How about a variation on the Ub Iwerk cartoon Skeleton Dance? Only this time, the skeleton is providing the music for a dancing scarecrow and witch.

Enjoy!

2021 Calendar - Knock Out!

Here is the next image from my new calendar. I hate boxing and watching boxing, but I really enjoy boxing movies and boxing comics. I don't get it either. So I thought a boxing image would be a lot of fun.

Enjoy!

2021 Calendar - Climbing the Impossible Cliff

I have a physical calendar hanging next to my computer in my office so I can keep track of the time and day. It's funny how technology still hasn't been able to improve upon a paper calendar. A few years ago I had a Felix the Cat calendar, which I just loved. Then one year they didn't make a new Felix calendar.

Sigh.

So I decided to make my own calendar for next year and use it as a chance to try out a few different styles for my upcoming comic book. Here is one of those images.

Enjoy!
