Wandering Koala meets the Amazing Spider-man

What do you suppose the first meeting between the Silent Wanderer and your Friendly Neighborhood Webhead would look like? A knock-down fight? Millions of dollars of property damage?

Maybe they would just hang out and read a good book on their Kindles.

This was drawn with a Staedlter pencil and inked with a crow quill pen. The black shapes were filled in with a Sharpie.

Digital Illustration with Adobe Photoshop and Corel Painter

So what happened to going back to traditional art supplies? I know that's the question on your mind.

The answer is I really like the look of digital and the workflow thanks to Adobe Photoshop and Corel Painter. There are several things I can do better and quicker thanks to those two software packages.

The background was created months ago in Photoshop as an exercise in cityscapes. I really liked how it turned out, but I didn't know what to do with it until today when I was sketching a new pose for the Wandering Koala in Corel Painter. I loved how it turned out and said to myself, "Self, I bet that would look good on top of that cityscape you created a few months ago." And it does.

But that's just my opinion. What do you think?

Character Sketch: Monkey Elder

It's been awhile since I've drawn just to draw. Work has been crazy busy. So today I sat down and sketched this guy in about ten minutes and colored him in about another ten. I used a Papermate Sharpwriter pencil, inked it with a Zebra disposable brush pen, and colored it in Corel Painter 12.
